The Minor Division is the first level of play in which batters face players pitching with regulation hard baseballs. 9 and 10 year olds are the primary ages in this division, although 8 through 11 year olds are eligible to play in this division. 11 year old players who are new to baseball or who have only played one year in the Minor Division may request to play in the Minor Division (prior to the Evaluations). 9 year old players who are new to baseball will be asked to start at the Rookie evaluations to determine the best fit for the player.
The Minor Division teams play in a regional league, often including Beaver Valley, Castlegar, Nelson, and Salmo. Some years Grand Forks plays a few exhibition games in the regional league. The league game schedules include approximately 10-12 games. Games can be split fairly even between home and away. However, game location is dependent on number of players and number of local teams. Home games are generally scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Practice schedules depend on field availability.
Teams will have 2-3 field times per week, on average (field times include games and practices). Season schedule will be determined in mid to late April, with 'Opening Day' games targeted for Saturday April 25th, and the season ending with playoffs the weekend of June 19th-21st.
